Hey guys, I have been doing side splits for about 2-3 years now. I’m not a ballet dancer, but I used to dance ballet jazz which is very different.
Yeah so the exercise I used to do repeatedly and which really helps with your splits is the L exercise. It has got a technical name, but that’s what I call it.
It basically comprises of the following:
1. Sit on the floor, 2 legs stretched in front of you.
2. Leave one leg in this position throughout the whole exercise.
3. Bring the other leg to the side so that you make a 90 degree angle.
4. Now (with the leg stretched out to the side) bend it from the knee down so that there’s another right angle. But towards the back.
Now you have 2 L shapes. one between 2 legs. and the other between the knee of one leg.
