Being Happy – Andrew Matthews 9 months ago

Chapter 2 – Living in the Now

LIVE, now!!!
All we have is now. Focus our minds on the present moment. Be happy on the journey, not just when we reach a destination..

“Living in the now is about expanding our awareness to make the current moment more delicious rather than shutting off” What a great statement. This is what I want. A ‘delicious’ life.

Forgive
True forgiveness is letting go. It is important to know that we all live our lives the best way we know how. When we know better, we do better. Blaming others gets us nowhere, fast. Throw out the guilt (ie forgive yourself).

Being Happy
“Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be” Abraham Lincoln.

It is how we react to life that determines how happy we are. We are in control of our own thoughts. To be happy we need to concentrate on happy thoughts. We are in control of our mind. Let in the good stuff – compliments, warm fuzzies and things that make me happy and stay away from the bad – news, negativity and things that make me sad.

If you are going to be really happy ‘someday’ why not make that day, today? Being happy is a decision that you made and then a series of choices to support that decision. For me the decision to turn my life around encompases chosing to remain single, what food to eat and what I allow into my mind.

“Being happy can be hard work sometimes. It is like maintaining a nice home – you’ve got to hang on to your treasures and throw out the garbage. Being happy requires looking for good things. One person sees the beautiful view and the other sees the dirty window. You choose what you see and what you think”.

This really makes me think. In so many ways I see the good in life but in other ways I fixate on that dirty window. I am an intelligent woman, I CAN do this. I just have to decide to. If I do ‘see’ a dirty window I have to look past it to the view. Then I may come back and clean the window (remove negative thinking/ beliefs etc) but I need to stop FOCUSING on the window.

As an Indian guru once told a pupil who was in desperate search of contentment, “I will give you the secret. If you want to be happy, BE HAPPY.” How true this is. I am happy. I am so happy I have a substitiute family to look after, I am so happy I have a roof over my head, food in my belly and a shirt on my back. I AM HAPPY.

If you are down ask yourself these questions:

- Do I have enough air to breathe?
- Do I have enough food to eat?
- Can I see?
- Can I walk?
- Can I hear?
- Am I taking myself too seriously?
- What am I learning from this situation?

If things seem really serious ask yourself , will I be OK in the next 5 minutes?

Laughter
Use laughter to make yourself feel better. Watch funny movies and shows. If you laugh at the situation, it makes it more bearable.

“Let us assume that you’re broke, you just smashed your car, you are going through a divorce and the roof is leaking. If all that is going on, why make it worse by being unhappy as well.”

So I have BPD, PTSD and depression. That doesn’t stop me being happy!!! Life is not THAT serious. Let’s take humour more seriously.

'Being Happy' Andrew Matthews 9 months ago

I LOVE this author and recomend his books to EVERYONE. They are fun yet choca block full of great advice. He has three books as far as I am aware and all of them are GREAT reads.

‘Being Happy’
Chapter One – Patterns

Some of the patterns we may have in our lives:
#Drama Patterns
#Accident Patterns
#Sickness Patterns
#Mess Patterns
#Broke Patterns
#Indespensable Patterns
#Job Change Patterns
#Always Healthy Patterns
#Lucky Patterns
#Wealthy Patterns
#Fun and easy Patterns

When will negative patterns stop?
“Life changes when WE change”

Remember that ALL change is met with resistance, be prepared!

When reading this chapter I identified patterns in my life.

Some that I like and wish to continue are: Niceness – I always meet the nicest people, Good things happen to me all the time!, Everything happens for a reason – I can continually see WHY things have happened. things happen to fufill an imediate need.

Some that I don’t like and wish to change are:
Finaces, Being Late, Fat girl, Sexual behaviour, lazy, not good at…, not motivated, unhealthy, guilt, imcompletion.

We become the company we keep. We need to decide what we want from life and chose our company accordingly!

You were Born Rich - Bob Proctor 11 months ago

This book is a plan to take me from where I am to where I want to be.We should love people and use money NOT the other way around.

Chapter – Me and Money

Attempt to keep focusing only on myself, because what someone else has or does not have, is not going to affect ME and it is MY financial situation that I want to improve!

money is important
*money is a servant
*money must circulate

Start thinking that I am wealthy and become comfortable with money. Find a Born Rich Study Buddy

I am a very wealthy, prosperous individual who is surrounded by an ocean of thought energy*

Exercise:
*How have I been conditioned to think about money?
*Why am I getting the results that I am getting?
*How can I change my way of thinking or conditioning?

You were Born Rich - Bob Proctor 12 months ago

Started reading this yeasterday. I am taking notes as I go along. This is a fantastic book. I use all non fiction books as work books and try and live the principles as I read. I am going to read slowly and UNDERSTAND and implent rather than race through to say that I have read it.

I have been really slack 1 year ago

I have been in Australia for three weeks so now is the perfect time to be reading but I have been reading mainly fiction. The worst thing is that it hasn’t even been good fiction. More like chewing gum for the mind (quote from my old librbary teacher Mrs. Beale). I need to do more reading and understanding. I grabbed a couple of books from the library. Goal for today, start reading one…

I listen to a tape that said to read a book a week 1 year ago

So I will attempt this. I am also doing Tony Robbins’s Personal Power 2 – The driving force, today was day one. Also a confidence boosting hypnosis & subliminal tape series, today day four. Bpth of these are 30 day programmes.

I am reading How to be Brilliant and You were born rich at the moment. Life is busy but once I kick this TV habit I will be sweet as.

Starting my list 1 year ago

I want to read 100 Non-fiction books. I read so much fiction and I have realised that it is not good for me as I use it as an escape from the real world. I am currently reading a few books off my list so I will include these. These are in no particular order.
