Keep a journal

29 cheers

A question about this goal:
My main reason for keeping a journal is to leave a legacy behind about my history and the times I lived in. I would like to hand write it but I have a problem with my hand. Will it have the same longevity/tactility if it is typed?  — 1 year ago
Still not started  — 2 years ago

I always want to do this. But when I go to start writing I get hung up on the details. I’ve had a horrible past that I don’t want to remember. Is it possible to journal and only think ahead?

A question about this goal:
I get so hung up on the details. Are all your journals in the exact same type of book (e.g. all moleskines) or did you choose a different book every time you needed to start a new one?  — 2 years ago
Can a blog be a journal?  — 3 years ago

I’m torn between the idea of a journal (in my mind – a handwritten record of thoughts and feelings) and a blog (a typed, online record of thoughts, feelings and things I do each day).

Do you consider you blog your journal? Or do you only consider actually writing things down a journal?

Bought a new journal and pen!  — 3 years ago

Well, I’ve bought a new journal (a large lined moleskine) and a new pen (black gel ink) so I am ready to go. Again. Maybe this time it will work.

Still procrastinating.  — 3 years ago

I dug my journal out and put it in a prominent place to remind me to write in it. I keep telling myself that there is too much going on for me to have time to sit down and write in it. But I have this crazy thing that writing down my goals and dreams will make them not happen. I’m hoping 43things will break me of that! I’m also hoping that writing more letters will get me in the mood for it again.

Good stuff and bad stuff?  — 3 years ago

I’m just starting out in hand written journaling, though I have been blogging for a year and a half now. On some journaling advice sites and boards, they have talked about not writing all the bad stuff in the same journal as the good stuff. What do you think about that? I can’t decide whether I want to have to be writing in two different journals or not.

Thanks!

Need to remind myself its worth writing  — 3 years ago

I have trouble reconciling what should be in my blog and what should be in my paper journal. Ideally I’d like everying to go into the hand written one. Really I am just scared of starting in case I stop.
