It’s amazing how little writing – as opposed to typing – I do nowadays (apart from maintaining a handwritten journal). As the keyboard has gradually taken over as my primary instrument for recording information, corresponding with others, etc., it seems that my printing and handwriting have gradually degraded from a relatively legible form to a far less discernible scrawl.

I usually write in prose, but I think for a change I’ll try do record my thoughts in poetry (of some shape and form) the next time I put pen to paper.
I’ve been practicing left-handed writing for the past week or so. Although this kind of personal experiment in ambidexterity acquisition is fairly monotonous, it’s refreshing to see that some progress has already been made.
Starting today, I’m going to practice writing with my left hand for about 5 minutes each day (in addition to my normal right-handed writing). It’ll be interesting to see whether and to what extent any ambidexterity emerges.
I hadn’t thought that physical exercise could be an effective reliever of writer’s block, but I tried it anyway and it seemed to work. Although correlation doesn’t necessarily imply causation, I’ll keep using this approach for the time being. Besides, a little extra exercise never did any harm.
It seems that I type too much, and don’t write enough. It may be time to put down the keyboard and pick up an old-fashioned pen.
