25 minutes on the elliptical — 2 days ago
5 more minutes was enough to make me feel it. ugh. But finishing is not nearly as hard as starting…

easier than I remember the last time being. Guess judo is keeping me fit!
23: new worst judo class ever. let us never speak of this again.
24: super remedial judo – worked on falling for almost the entire class – got much much better at the throwing myself falls (still not quite right, but does not hurt to try now!) and got in enough being thrown falls to stop worrying about my head. whew.
of course, the gym is closed for annual cleanup/repairs next week.
worst judo class ever. a black belt chick who hasn’t been around decided to step in and “help” and got right on my last nerve. Also, landed right on my head, which pissed off my neck muscles, and got accidentally headbutted in the nose.
so thurs I went to yoga and did lots of stretches for my neck.
anything extra just isn’t happening right now. hopefully will fit things in as i settle into my school schedule.
(except my morning pilates M-R – those are still essential to waking up and getting my muscles to forgive me for judo)
no handstands this week.
I was late to judo yesterday, and it was nice to see that it was no big deal. Not learning new throws lately (lumped in with the newest people) but getting good practice in on the standards, and some much needed ukemi time.
slow night – few adult beginners. We did a drop version of sea ooo nagi where you put your foot out like tie oh toe chi and drop down on that knee and then pull the person around you. “Turn your head!” says Sensei Joe.
We fell on the crash mat for the first time. It was refreshingly comfy.
The “walking on hands” challenge is what I’m trying to do on MWF now that I’ve done the 6 weeks of pushups. One of judo warmup exercises is “walk on your hands” so I’m doing a combination of wheelbarrows and handstands against the wall to build up to it, instead of throwing myself headfirst at the mat like a moron.
Learned a foot block throw – like a variant of knee wheel
and a weird “holding on to the gi lapel with the other hand” version of sea ooo nagi
pulled something in my right hip. it seems to have mostly forgiven me after a nights sleep.
Friday we finished the 6 weeks of the actual challenge – column 1 the whole way and it was plenty challenging!
Yesterday I did as many pushups as I could: 50. :( pretty far from 100, but far better than the 7 in a row I could do when I started. I will probably let it stand there and start on handstands MWF.
“new” guys who’ve got jujitsu experience are kinda scary – they know just enough to not be afraid to try to hurt you. yay.
8 weeks woowoo! and now I officially have learned enough things that I’ve forgotten some of them. bah.
I have a cute little bruise on my arm from mat work.
I have no endurance and felt horrible and barfy until we slowed waaaaaay down for the new white belts. whew. thank you new white belts!
