It’s normally my night for cooking tonight but my services have been cast aside! For some reason my son, who has his birthday today, has requested that his mother cook his birthday meal.
Can’t blame him, really.

I cooked dinner last night under directions from my wife. It’s such a delight to have her as a cooking mentor!
I love curry. Love eating it. Love cooking it. Garlic, ginger, coriander, cumin, cardamom, tumeric, paprika, chilli. What flavour!
Cooked a vegetable curry tonight with plenty left over for tomorrow night.
Needed a little help with this one but it was very satisfying when I was able to call out, “dinner’s ready!” to my wife and kids.
OK, it’s not exactly up there towards the gourmet end of the cooking spectrum but I could have just fried a couple of eggs tonight. Instead I cooked myself scrambled eggs. Friday night is “cook your own dinner night” at our place… I wonder what I’ll conjure up next week?
Until recently my only opportunities to cook were on the BBQ at weekends. Now that I have stopped a lengthy commute I have the opportunity to cook during the week at a reasonable hour.
Last night I thoroughly enjoyed cooking a lamb and vegetable curry. Many years ago I had cooked this quite frequently. This time I was glad to have my wife – a superb cook – not far away so that I could get guidance when I needed it. The result was pretty good, even if I do say so myself. The kids even complimented me!
I’m looking forward to trying out a few new recipes in the coming weeks.
