I have a good body board now but it’s too cold here in the Australian winter to go surfing without a wetsuit. So that’s the next step.
Learning to surf properly on a board can come later.

I’ll get around to buying a board at some stage but meanwhile there’s still body-surfing. Even though it was for a short while, I went for a swim at a nearby beach yesterday. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of catching a wave!
Looking forward to getting myself a malibu board as I expect to have time to resume learning to surf soon.
I actually got the splint off my finger a few days before we left for our holiday at Crescent Head and I did start learning to surf!
Even though most of my surfing attempts resulted in me falling off before standing up, I did manage a few controlled rides… enough to make me want to try surfing again.
I had plans to start learning to surf in April during a two week holiday at Crescent Head, a mecca for Australian surfers.
But there’s now a slight snag in that plan… I broke my finger playing cricket last Saturday and will have it in a splint for the next six weeks.
As they say here in Australia, “Bugger!”
Oh well, I’ll still be able to marvel at all the expert board riders, I guess.
