make a smaller ecological footprint

i started buying water in 2.5 gallon jugs instead of individual bottles.

this has cut reduced the amount of plastic that i recycle dramatically.

i work for a large corporation that has a environmental/safety/health team. i recently made a suggestion that they turn the sprinklers off while it’s raining. apparently there is supposed to be an automated system in place but it was busted.

i dropped the recycling off at the collection center a couple of weeks ago.

it’s worth the drive. so far, i’d say that i’m reducing my waste by at least 40%.

i still want to try and get a recycling program set up at the apartments though. i have to write a persuasive ‘community action’ essay in my writing class. i think i’ll use the oportunity to petition the city’s recycling manager.

I sent an e-mail to the city asking if there was some kind of recycling program available.

I called my apartment office and asked if there was some kind of recycling program and they said no. Next thing to do is call the city I guess…
