Get a job

I am helping my mom get the house ready for an important day, her “gay husband” and my “surrogate mother father” is coming to see the house for the first time since we moved in. He comes friday.

On top of all this, I’m doing the drug research thing and training for my new job on Friday, which will give me about 2 hours to prepare for my long lost “surrogate mother father”. I haven’t seen him in two years, I can’t wait.

I’ve been offered a weekend job selling Blue Buffalo pet food at the Petsmart on 7th and bell. They are offering $12/hour. That’s about $48 a day, $96 a weekend, $384 a month.

It’ll help until I get stable job I know that, and it’ll give me some customer service skill. Just what I need.

We all went down to Lowe’s and filled out an application today. My roommate (the only one out of the four of us with a job) knows one of the managers. He says he will pull up our apps. and get us an interview right away. I guess it is good to have friends in high places.

Heard about a research study for fall allergies, three weeks and they pay you 200 bucks.

Worth a try, if anything I won’t pass the allergy test but at least I’ll know exactly whats been making me sneeze for the past week.

Had a job for a day, working on the democratic campaign. Now I have an interview for a smoothie place called Fresh Blenders.

It was so fast my head is still spinning.

A billion and one applications filled and not one interview. Damn this discouraging employment market!

What ever happened to sending a notice to those who didn’t get the job? Seriously how hard is it to send out a letter saying “hey you didn’t get the job, but thanks for applying anyway!” Its generic but at least it lets me know I didn’t get the job. It’s just professionalism.

Anyway, on a side note it looks like I’m dog sitting for just about all of next month. Not looking forward to being away from home for so long but it’s some much needed money and there is no arguing with that.

Sent an email to the woman who interviewed me, thanking her and telling her I’m in the process of getting my driver’s license. That business communication class really paid off.

Now for the hard part, getting my driver’s license. If you know my history with the written part of the test you know it would seem like a blessing if I pass.

But no harm in trying for a fourth time right?

The interview started out well, we talked about my qualifications (which they say is better than they were looking for)and the duties of the job (which sounded great to me) then around the end of the interview the bomb was dropped and the villagers were left in total carnage.

They asked if I had my license, I said it was only for a motorcycle but I am working on getting my license. The interview went down hill fast from there but I’m hoping a well versed email and getting my license ASAP would boost my chances.

My interview was moved up to 1pm instead of 3pm. So today I am running around washing clothes, getting my interview items in order, and spending an hour and a half getting my hair straightened.

My roommates didn’t seem too happy about my extended time in the bathroom but thats too bad for them! I’ve had to deal with my hair being a curly unkempt mess for over a week, I’m tired of looking so dirty.
