I’m just too lazy to live! About the women from gumtree – I’ve made 2 really good friends and 1 ok one. So I’m pretty happy about that. Had coffee with one of them last weekend and the other came over for drinks with her husband. So the face-to-face bit is going fine; it’s just the mailing and calling bit I’m not so good at. Have to really dig in with this or all I’ll lose all my dear old friends.

I really haven’t been doing all the stuff I planned. But last week I posted an ad on gumtree and answered a few looking for friends in London. I’ve been writing to some women as a result and hopefully one or more of them will become good friends. As for my plan – today I called my mom in law after a very long time and also called my best friend from school. I hadn’t spoken to her since before her wedding in January and it was so nice speaking to her again. Friends from your childhood are forever friends – you can lose touch for ages and still pick up exactly where you left off. It made me feel good talking to her again.
Moving to a new country with a new husband means that I have no friends nearby and am out of touch with old friends. And yet I have lovely friends all over the world and with email and orkut and cheap international calls I really have no excuse for falling out of touch with my friends and with my family – except mum whom I call every other day.
So here’s to a planned schedule of keeping in touch.
Everyday – Write to one friend and orkut two.
Every Saturday – Call a close friend and my sister
Every Sunday – Call my in laws/ brother in law alternately and one other family member
