I won tickets on the radio for "3 Doors Down" 9 months ago

The show is this Thursday, which happens to be my birthday. I’m taking my cousin with me since it also happens to be her birthday as well =)

Should be fun!

Styx, The New York Dolls and Bad Religion 9 months ago

So, I went to see Styx in San Diego at The House of Blues. My friends who I went with are HUGE Styx fans, and have seen them MANY times (this was only my second time).

Being that the venue is all general admission, and the only way to guarantee a spot in the front (which is where we HAD to be) is to get there first, we showed up at 10:30AM!! It’s a good thing though, because 30 minutes later more people showed up!

Cut to about 10 hours later….. there we were in the front of the stage, just slightly to the right of center so that Jill could be closer to Tommy Shaw.

The show was absolutely amazing! Even all the Styx groupies who go to all the shows said that this one was extra good…. AND… I ended up with 4 guitar picks and Tommy Shaw’s slide! Very cool =)

Two or three weeks later and we were at the Anaheim House of Blues, which is WAY closer to home, for The New York Dolls. Once again, right in front. This was a great show too. Jill brought along one of her old New York Dolls albums and actually got it signed during the show! Good times.

Two more weeks later and once again, there we were right in front of the same stage, but this time for Bad Religion! OMG! The crowd was one of the rowdiest and most fun crowds I’ve been in yet. The show was exactly one week ago, and I still have all kinds of bruises on my arms from “holding my position”... and my legs were so sore for about three days after the show!

Bad Religion was so great! I know one of the guitar players, Greg Hetson, from having gone to see Black President so many times. I wore my Black President t-shirt to the show and he thought that was cool… especially because as of about a month ago he is no longer with them. Nothing bad happened, there was no “break-up” or hard feelings, it’s just that when BP got signed, he couldn’t commit the time needed because of his obligations to Bad Relgion and his other band Cirle Jerks.

Anyway, it was so much fun. I can’t wait to see them again! =)

Next show for me will probably be another Black President one, hopefully Goldfinger when their new album comes out in April, and possibly Unwritten Law….. we’ll see.

My most recent shows: 12 months ago

Since my last entry I have seen Social Distortion, Nashville Pussy, Reverend Horton Heat, Hit Me Back, Circle Jerks and Black President (again).

I wrote blogs about them on my Myspace page if anyone is interested…

Next up for me is Styx… then New York Dolls and then Bad Religion!

YAY!

Black President, Municipal Waste & Suicidal Tendencies 1 year ago

This is a re-post that I originally posted at http://TourBusLive.Com

If you like it hard and fast (your music, that is) then these are three bands that you must see live!

Yes, I know everyone has heard of Suicidal Tendencies, but have you heard of Municipal Waste? Neither had we when we got to the Galaxy Theater last night, but I guarantee you that there wasn’t a single person there who left not knowing who they are.

I can’t speak for Jill or Gary, who I went to the show with, but they definitely have a new fan in me. They are totally hardcore thrash metal magic! I have never been a huge fan of this type of music, but I find myself gravitating toward it more and more these days, and these guys are a perfect example of why. Anyone intersted in checking them out can go to: http://www.MySpace.Com/MunicipalWaste

As for Black President, they were amazing once again! I will never be able to get enough of these guys and just wish more people knew about them! Charlie, Christian, PK, Greg and Ty… we love you guys!!!! They have more shows coming up in the LA area in the next few weeks. You can check out their music and calandar of upcoming shows at: http://www.MySpace.Com/BlackPresident

Suicidal Tendencies… well, all I can say is that everyone should see this band live at least once! This was my first time, but hopefully not my last. I spent the whole night right up front and center completely squished up against the barricade and loving it! They had to cut the show a little short due to a busted bass amp – courtesy of the 50 or so fans they brought up on stage during “Pledge”. Needless to say we were pretty bummed to have to miss out on “Reagan”, “Institutionalized” and “Join The Army”, but all in all it was a great show!

Keep an eye out for Gary’s photos from this show which I’m sure will be posted soon on TourBusLive.Com

A few more to add to my list. 1 year ago

I saw some more bands last weekend, but I only remember the names of 3 of them. They are:

Throwrag
The Mormons
The Bolides

I had to leave the bar during one of the bands to go pick up a friend, and when I got back I’d missed one of the bands completely and I can’t remember the name of one of the bands that I saw, but it was fun anyway :D

Last night I went and saw three more local So-Cal bands play at The Vibe in Riverside. They were;

Titanosaur
Who Rides The Tiger
The Sleeping Sea Kings

This was my secoond time seeing Who Rides The Tiger. I saw them last month at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach with Aisle 9, The Rolling Blackouts and Burning Brides.

And since I’m mentioning names, I might as well name the other bands I’ve seen recently. They were;

Guns Don’t Argue
Skatanic Rednecks
Black Fag.

Oh, and I went to Genesis at The Hollywood Bowl last weekend. It was the very last night of their reunion tour, so that was pretty cool :o)

Just do it! 1 year ago

This is something that I’ve always said I was going to do, but for one reason or another I haven’t…

Until now.

About a year ago I met my friend Jill at a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert. She and her husband are avid concert-goers. They go to as many as they can fit into their schedule and run a website called TourBusLive.Com.

I’ve kept in touch with them through their website and have since been to three concerts with them, with two more coming up.

It’s true what they say, (whoever they are) that if you surround yourself with people you’d like to be like, that they will rub off on you!

There’s nothing better than experiencing live music! I can’t get enough of it.

Recent shows:
Roger Waters
Goldfinger
Guttermouth
Black President (pictured above)
+ about 10 other bands that you probably haven’t heard of :o)

Upcoming shows:
Genesis
Social Distortion
The Reverend Horton Heat
styx
+ about 10 more bands even I haven’t heard of!

My favorite shows seem to be the ones at bars and smaller clubs… the ones where you just pay $10 at the door to get in!

Good times!
