Piano Lessons: $18 for 30 minutes? 2 years ago

How about $35 for an hour? I think its more reasonable.. how the hell am I going to learn anything in 30minutes? As a former tutor I doubt my kids would even settle down enough to absorb 70% of what I said in the first 30minutes..sheesh

I was told that before I pick up any musical instrument I should learn the piano first? My closest encounter with any real musical instruments has been the organ many years ago.. do I need to learn the piano before picking up the flute?
