This came out.
I’ve always been dubious about the claim that women’s wages are brought down statistically by breaks in their career for child rearing… bollocks. Men take long holidays for about the same period at times, and they still earn more!

Apparently it is difficult to have the label “charasmatic” attached to a female leader due to social perception
If you must have a relationship with a colleague, it’s strongly advised to make sure
a) he does not directly report to you
b) he is not married
c) you are not married
d) he does not have a big mouth
e) he does not shag other women in the organisation at the same time as seeing you
f) you do not sit on the board for encouring womens professional career
g) you are not having his child
Just when I thought my work place can’t sink any lower i discovered a manager getting involved in all of the above..
What a way to impose your very own concrete ceiling, girls
Never, ever say “um”. If you have acquired the habit of saying it make sure you consciously lower your voice when you do – it’s just less convincing if you are female. Sad, but true.
Alternatively use another word, or simply pause. Pause is much better than umming and ahhing really. In addition it gives the audidence time to reflect on your last sentence, particularly if the subject is non-trivial
are women still getting paid less than males in the same job? I’d understand if there’s labour involved.. Is it because these women can’t play in the ‘boys club’? What’s the deal here?
Example 1:
ME (emailing to 100 people): I will be building a tree house. Is it ok to paint it green? (most people can’t care less what colour it is)
Result: I receive 56 emails of ‘YES’ (or variants of yes, coupled with rationale of deciding on yes, small talk, things not related to treehouse building, etc) , 40 emails of ‘NO’ (or variants of no, coupled with rationale of deciding on no, small talk, things not related to treehouse building, etc). The rest of the recipients couldn’t be bothered replying.
Example 2:
ME (emailing to 100 people): I will be building a tree house. I will be painting it green unless otherwise advised before the end of the week (most people can’t care less what colour it is)
Result: I receive 40 emails telling me what colour they would prefer. (Coupled with rationale of deciding on NOT GREEN, small talk, things not related to treehouse building, etc)
Voila.
Maybe more pointedly, don’t comment on things that are beyond your control, unless you were explictly asked.. I made the mistake of criticising the company strategy (well in my opinion at the time it clearly didnt work hence complaints from staff).. which was perceived by some as arrogant and probably even ignorant.
So there you go, lessons learned
Worker: I was here from 8:30AM till 2:30AM the next day to meet the demands of YOUR boss and YOUR clients. Please acknowledge my time and pay for the extra hours I put in.
Boss: Well since you are on a day rate I consider the day to be from the time you start on the day till the time you finish, regardless of whether you finished on the same calendar day or not. So no I can’t pay you.. and oh by the way we don’t have money anyway
Worker: oh well in that case my day just ‘finished’. See ya!
