It just didn’t happen for me this year. I guess I had other priorities. I am joining a CSA next week so I will still have fresh vegetables. I will give this another try after I have planting beds created after the fence is installed.

More squash. I will definately be growing this again next year.
I can’t remember exactly when I pulled these from the garden, but I was way excited! Tomatoes aren’t getting eaten fast enough. I may need to make spaghetti sauce this week. Some of these squash went into a Squash Casserole that was OK, but I probably won’t make it again.
After returning to Kansas City I took stock of my vegetable garden and this is what I was able to pick! I did take out the broccoli and cauliflower and radishes as they were being eaten by something and had no fruits. Next year I am going to focus on two or three crops that do well this year. Tomatoes, squash, lettuce and bell peppers will do ok.
Tonight I made dinner using parsley and rosemary from my herbs, and mesclun and bibb lettuce from the garden. Everything was really good and it was fun to go out in the backyard to get the fresh veggies. I can’t wait for the broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, beets, cucumbers and squash start coming up. I’ve given up on the strawberries as the birds seem to get them before I do.
About two months ago I re-worked our flower bed against the back of the house for vegetables. I planted a lot of seeds and some sprouted plants. I think things are going well. The only thing that is going horribly wrong are the brussel sprouts. I planted them behind the potato plants as they will be higher in the end, but the potato plants are growing like weeds and I don’t think the brussel sprouts are getting much light.
