I’ve now moved this to the completed list as to not invite debt back in. Good luck everyone. It’s attainable. You just need a little dedication and time.

Motorcycle payment 1 week ago

SO,

We got out insurance money and decided just to pay off the balance of the new bike loan. I hope that doesn’t come back to haunt me. I do like being as liquid as possible but I think saving the interest and not having a payment may be easier even if things get slim. We’ll see. Other then that I just got my car repaired and put the service on my credit card. I have the cash in the bank and plan on paying that off when the bill comes. I feel so much less stress now. It is a great feeling. All thats left is my student loan and with its percentage rate I’m in great shape.

Well 1 month ago

I was debt free for a whole 3 weeks. I had the Ducati paid off one month ago aaaaaand someone decided to run it over while it was parked in a parking lot and total it. SO…

::::deep breath:::

I have to finance about another 5k to cover the difference it is going to take to replace it after the insurance money comes in.

Le suck.

Worse things could have have happened. I’m not going to harp on it here. I’ll just make myself upset again when I’m finally coming to terms with everything. I’m hoping we can blast through this loan quickly. I still have yet to get my car fixed so yeah…

AAAAARRGGGGGGG!!!!!

credit card KAPOWWWW 2 months ago

I just set up a payment to pay off the last of my credit card today. I’m unofficially out of debt once that payment goes through. I of course still have my student loans but I’m not really concerned about them. At least not the way I was with the other part of my debt. I will however start upping the amount that I pay on them monthly.

I also got a check for about 150 in the mail today form GE Money Bank. Apparently, I overpaid by that much when I payed off the Ducati. It was a nice piece of mail to receive today especially since it appears as though my insurance company officially dropped me today.

I now have about 300 in medical bills that they are refusing to pay. For all I know they will be sending me bills retroactively too. That really would be like them to do that. Fortunately I haven’t had many claims. I just switched to them last Sept and I have been relatively healthy since then. Annoying, but hopefully not a big deal. We knew this may be coming for awhile. I am just going to have to purchase insurance through my corp now. Sucks because premiums will be a bit higher. Oh well.

SO I am going to keep this goal for the next few months. I’ve got some auto repairs that need to be addressed. I’ve got this medical thing that may pop up and I just want to make sure I stay on track. Either way I’m pretty pleased. I’M unofficially DEBT FREEEEEEEE!

WEEEEEEE!!!!!

Title 2 months ago

So our Ducati title came in the mail. That one is now completely official. :D

$1800 left. That still seems a bit crazy. I suppose that once that is finally gone I still feel like I’m going to be stretched a bit thin due to all the auto repairs we need addressed. My car has been parked for months and is going to need a few thousand to get running again. My husbands bike is due for service and the ferring needs replacing. Probably another grand or so total. At least I’m happy that all the old debt we have is nearly gone.

On a side note, It is a bit irritating that the job I had lined up this week kept getting put off. I am really appreciating all of the extra income right now. I wish I’d known this would be the case. I’d have worked a smaller job this week. Oh well, Things are still on a great path. I’m in the home stretch and plowing forward.

Ran my errands 2 months ago

Made my deposits and I’ve set a payment for half of my remaining credit card debt. This will bring my balance down to $1800. WEEEEE! I am going to wait until the next round of checks come to blow this one away so that we can address vehicle maintenance and the like. I dont want those services going back on the card as that would be a bit counter productive.

WEEE positive cash flow! 2 months ago

So I got the title to the Ducati in the mail the other day. I was expecting to owe about a dollar more but I guess that wasn’t so. I purposely added about a dollar extra to the payment to try and head that off and apparently it worked. I have been blessed with being able to use the interest earned on a down payment loan to pay down some of my credit card balance too. I now only have about $3600 left on one debt on one card left.

I got 3 payments in today and will be taking care of a lot of things that have been hanging in limbo most of this year. I will put a good chunk to the last debt, fix my car and repair the damaged ferring on the Duc and get it’s over due service done. It is nice knowing we’ve still got some money coming too. Things are finally starting to fall into place. Once I get the last of the credit paid off we can start stock piling for a better down payment.

SOOO so close now. I’m actually getting excited. :D

I couldnt help myself 3 months ago

I sent off a check to pay off the last of my husband’s motorcycle loan. It was only 1080 and I just couldn’t help myself any longer. So that will be another $150 payment a month that will be disappearing. My credit card is the last remaining debt (sans student loan) and going to be interest free for the next 5 months. SO, I’m just that much closer to getting everything in order. I cant wait to receive the Ducati title in the mail now. Nice.

I think it is an alright decision. I’ve been wanting to stay as liquid as possible right now but I was taking a look at our accounts receivable and I think things are going to be just fine, at least for the next few months.

June Update 3 months ago

So, as I’ve mentioned before I’ve moved credit debt to an interest free account. Of course the credit union made a mistake and sent me my first statement with interest. Fortunately, an angry phone call took care of this. I even got an apology.

I’ve got 4k left of cc debt and a few hundred dollars on my husbands motorcycle left. There would have been a major dent in this had our tax guy actually done our taxes and we received out stimulus check. So I’m still paying it down the old fashioned way. I’m still debating biting the bullet and just sending off some large checks to be done with these payments or holding the money closer as our income has been so up and down. Most of the year I’ve been taking the latter option. I am getting so close on the motorcycle loan that I may just send a lump sum later this month. We’ll see.

I’ve also cut down on one of my largest expenses. The extra money savings I’ll likely throw at the remaining debt. Still sooo close I can taste it. It has taken some serious self restrain not to just write a check and get it over with but I still think keeping the money liquid is the better option right now.

I joined a new credit union 4 months ago

and they offered me a new card with no interest (or fees) on transfers or new purchases for 6 months. I did it and will be saving about $30 a month. I figured every bit counts and since the rate is higher then the card I transfered from it is added incentive to pay it off before the rate kicks in. I had planned on being out of debt by May 1 but a slow month and a half has put the breaks on that.
