a lament for lost herbs — 2 weeks ago
Oh herbs, how I tired!
But now you are dried
to the root
so I’ll give you the boot
I’ll try again when the sun
is more able to get photosynthesis done,
and not when the frost
means this goal is now lost.

My herbs look like they have seen better days. I don’t think they really like the cold all that much.
I’m deeply concerned about my fig tree too. It has lost all its leaves. I don’t think this is the sign of a happy fig tree.
My herbs are still alive after three months. I see this as a small but important step on the road to growing vegetables.
Ok so they aren’t vegetablesbut so far I have avoided killing my herbs for around a month and a half. Pretty good. I think the cold will claim the lemongrass…I hope it can hold on for a little longer…just long enough to make the first soup of the season…
fingers crossed.
