I’ve tried to lose weight time and time again, but never with great results. Now that my lifestyle has completely changed I’ve been slowly losing weight and I feel great about it. I haven’t even really been trying, but with biking every day and eating healthier (for the most part) I’ve slowly and steadily lost at least 20 pounds :)

I entered a website writing contest about ‘loving your enemies’. We were supposed to agree or disagree with Jesus’ teachings about Loving your Enemies. Basically, I wrote an essay on how it felt to be hated for being queer, and how it’s difficult to love those people that hate me… The main idea I wanted to get across was that that often, hate actually comes from pain or fear, and when you recognize that in individual people (as I did in the situation I wrote about), it’s easier to understand and maybe forgive.
I was actually optimistic about how I would do (the contest has only 12 or so entries). Unfortunately I didn’t take into the account that everyone who entered, (and the majority of the voters) are born-again Christians. So I doubt I’ll win, but I’m glad that I was able to write something that people will actually read.
I’m not sure if this is the reason why, but when I was a young teen I had a lot of debates with my father. We’re both very stubborn and we see things very differently. Unfortunately I think it damaged our relationship. I’ve since learned to keep my opinions to myself when I’m with him.
But lately I’ve noticed that I keep my opinions to myself way too much. I think that I see things differently from a lot of people. When someone says something I don’t agree with, I often keep my mouth shut. But I don’t like that. Maybe I don’t offend people that way, but I don’t let anyone get to know the real me.
I’ve been trying to do this a little more lately, hopefully with this goal on my list I’ll remember to keep it up.
