go to church (read all 3 entries…)
giving up for now 1 month ago

I’ve been to church several times this year, but I don’t think it’s necessary to start going regularly, and am definitely not committed to this goal anymore. I’m giving this up for now.

feel the fear and do it anyway
one step at a time 2 months ago

I gave a formal presentation this week at work, after only getting about a day’s notice. I seriously think the trick is to practice some by yourself. Write down what you’re going to say, and say it aloud.

I unfortunately have a habit of memorizing, but it’s the only way I can feel comfortable. I love it when people ask questions, which makes me feel more natural for some reason.

It had been since May when I last had to give a speech, and it went well again. Every time it happens, it feels great – this is definitely conquering a fear.

exercise regularly (read all 6 entries…)
had fallen off this goal bad for awhile 2 months ago

...but I actually got to the gym Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of this week!

I joined a conventional gym and started running fairly often near the end of 2006. Didn’t lift or eat properly, but definitely saw my waist line drop like crazy.

Went to a personal trainer for 9 months (November 2007 until July 2008), but it was expensive to go only twice per week. Couldn’t motivate myself to go on my own.

Went back to the conventional gym for a “Boot Camp” style class for a month, but it honestly wasn’t too much of a challenge. It came with a membership til end of August, and got to the gym maybe twice all month. Mood was terrible during this time, and I seriously hated life.

Now, my wife got me into a new CrossFit gym, and it feels awesome. Being a newbie sucks, and I have never struggled so much in a workout before, but I actually look forward to going.

My goal is to be going 4 times/week.
