Since I added this goal my career has gone off in a different direction and this is a lot less relevant. Therefore, I am going to “give up” on this, but only to free up time & focus for a more useful qualification in event management.

Not sure how I’m going to assess when this goal is done. I have been averaging 1.5 climbs per week for the last few months, & my climbing is definitely improving, so in one way I feel I’m nearly there. I guess the next step is to change from “learn to rock climb” to “climb a 4a” etc, but my regular climbing centre does not really mark the routes in a consistent way – they are just colours which can span quite a wide range of difficulty. I guess my action plan is to go to my regular centre as frequently as possible, and then go to the Castle once a month to measure my achievements.
Mini-step number one – try to go to the Castle this Sunday for an initial level reading…
I’m inspired to get going on this goal having seen how well the climbing has gone – it’s great to find that I actually genuinely enjoy a sport, and hope rollerblading will continue in the same vein, this time with added cardio benefits.
I’m going to start with a course, and am thinking of the January one here http://www.skatefresh.com/group-lessons/skate-school/ – hopefully I will have a bit more free time & money then. The special offer makes it a good deal too. Maybe I can even convince a friend or two to come along…well, it worked for climbing!
