shelves up, moulding painted, kickbboards primed. it’s getting done bit by little bit.

This being on a budget thing has sort of made cooking from scratch more part of the process. So that’s good… one goal being a happy byproduct of another.
I’ve been busy in the kitchen… muffins, cookies, pizza dough, soups, etc. all from scratch now. It takes a little planning, but the results are so worth it. Better, cheaper food and we’re reducing our packaging that needs to be recycled dramatically. We also both seemed to have lost weight this month…. go figure!
After 2 and a bit years of living here, finally all the kitchen stuff is put away where its supposed to be! Yay!
I managed to not buy any unnecessary things in January. I’m doing well so far this month too… must keep at it.
The budget is going well. It’s pretty strict, but we’re managing. I was able to put over $1700 toward my debt last month not counting the money put toward the mortgage.
I wish I didn’t feel so stingy and anti-social, though. I’m over-generous by nature. It’s so hard to cut back on that.
I don’t know why we’ve dragged this out so long. There are realy very few things left to take care of before we call the kitchen complete.
The big lingerer was designing and constructing the open shelving for above the sideboard. I’m happy to report that the second coat of paint is on them as of this morning and we should be able to fasten them to the wall in a day or two.
After that here’s what’s still left:
- prime, paint and attach kickboards under lower cupboards * done
- prime, paint and put up cupboard above fridge
- add grout to tile in pantry
- add grout between wood trim and counter tiles *done
- fill and paint decorative moulding above arches *done
Well, I’ve reached the 50 lbs. mark. I can’t wrap my head around it! This was my orginal goal, but I think now I’ll keep going and lose another 5 or so. I feel so much lighter.
Well, things seem to be slowing down a bit, but I’m still at it. I’ve got the flu AGAIN. It’s so hard to work out when you’re sick, you know? Anyway… enough complaining. 37 lbs. lost is nothing to sneeze at. sniffle
As of this morning I’ve lost 25 lbs.! Not only do I feel better physically, but I feel SMART for figuring out how to lose it. I haven’t been on a restrictive diet, I eat chocolate pretty much every day. It just comes down to portion control, water and lots of exercise. It really works!
The weather has been so winter-y and awful. I’ve borrowed my husband’s stationary trainer and I’ve been spending an hour a day on my bike in the basement. I love it! At least I have this alternative until all the winter storms subside.
so my goal is to drink 64. oz a day…. it has been a little over a week I’m feeling great! I find it a bit difficult to drink water during cold weather, but by keeping the Brita water filter jug out at room temperature it makes it much easier to drink that much per day.
Since I signed up with myfooddiary.com I’ve lost 8 lbs… in a little over a week! Perhaps a little too quick, but it’s amazing how good your eating habits can become when you’re forced to record everything you eat and read the nutritional break down of what you’re consuming.
I like healthy food and as a pescetarian I thought I was a healthy eater, but I guess over time I let too much oil and cheese and mayo ond white flour and sodium into my diet. Now that I’m cutting down on those things I’m feeling so much less sluggish!
8 lbs. down… 47 to go!
So I sent out an email to the guy on tv regarding my upcoming gig. And you know what? He emailed me 5 minutes later and offered me an interview. That wasn’t so hard!
the recreational course flyer thingy arrived at the door today… seems there’s a one evening tango class. I could give it a try…
I realize I haven’t moved too far away, but even with this short distance to a new city the weeds have changed. It bothers me that I have no idea the name of the things I rip out of the garden. They force me to think of them, these strange plants that seem to throw seeds in my face every time I touch them. I have not the words to even curse them… I’d also like to know what kind of spiders I’m dealing with here. shiver
