i thot i had suceeded in this, but this winter i have concluded Tucson doesn’t cut it. it does get cold here, too cold. so tho i like it here i will probbaly eventually be going further south and lower altitude to get away from the chill. when i say always warm, i mean ALWAYS warm, not warm for 8 months, warm only during the middle of the day for 3 months, and cold all the time for the remaining month. no.

eventually, we lost touch with the folks in bolivia we were working with. they were too busy, too undependable. we had to give up, give all the computers away to other charities. it’s sad.

Just last week I finished this. now I have to start the difficult process of getting it out to the world so as many people as possible see it!
see http://political.detritus.net/juarez for more details in the coming weeks…
making this film was an amazing experience. I don’t recommend anyone else make a documentary about exactly this topic, unless you are really dedicated to the idea. maybe you could do a better job than me. i plan to make most of my footage freely available on archive.org for those who want to use if for their own projects.

zines are fun and easy to do. i heartily recommend this. of course the key is not worry about it, dont fret over the quality or the planning, just DO IT!

i know so many people in europe now, there’s really no reason not to go, except the omnipresent reason not to do anything… money.

I’m a war tax resister, so I don’t pay federal taxes, because I object to my government using my taxes to kill people.
I still pay my state and local taxes, though, and I redirect ( or try to) my federal tax money to good causes.

I don’t plan on paying one of them, and it will never go away, but other than that I’d love to pay everything else off and be debt-free.

It hasn’t changed my daily internet reality like Del.icio.us and Flickr, which I discovered at about the same time.
Seems like a timesink that i don’t need. but, i’m still sort of witholding judgement.

I use it almost everyday, more often than the browswer’s bookmarks. you might call it “microblogging” – it’s just a link, no fancy pontificating about that link.

I don’t think I’ll ever be “done” with this. It will just be a process where I keep getting better. But I can say I learned a LOT of spanish in the last 3 months.

I know some spanish, but i really want to learn more. someday I hope to be able to have a philosophical conversation in Spanish. I fear that that will never ever happen, but maybe I can at least get to a point where I can understand more normal discussion and be “fluent.”

most are short and hastily done and not things I’m that proud of, though one, “A Million Dollar Laters”, about George Bush and fascism, is something i’m very happy with. Still, I want to keep making more and better ones.

i had an ibook before this. it gave me no end of trouble. i had to send it back to apple for repairs 5 times. if i wasn’t doing video production, I would have switched back to linux. but nothing really beats apple for media work.
