Introduction 6 days ago

I really like anime but haven’t been able to see much of it lately. There are a few I want to rewatch (Trigun mainly), some I want to continue watching (Bleach, Naruto and One Piece), and some I want to watch for the first time (Hellsing, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Elfen Lied, Ninja Scroll, Akira, Full Metal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin, Grave of the Fireflies).

Dragon Ball: Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!!

I just watched this short movie, the first new anime for Dragon Ball in twelve years !

It was fun the see all the guys again :)

Watching Evangelion 2 months ago

on the big screen last week, I’ve thought of it on several occasions and so just ordered the DVD, as I wanna see it again !

And I enjoyed it. The original series is now almost 13 years old, but especially the designs of the “angels” withstand the test of time and stand out from pretty much everything else in the genre.

to go and see Evangelion 1.01, which will only be shown for three days. This should be fun, it’s seldom enough that anime is shown on the big screen.

I miss it. =[ 3 months ago

I used to be into anime in a big way, but I’ve hardly watched anything lately. Since January I’ve only seen Welcome to the NHK (which I loved) about 20 episodes of NANA (not as compulsive as the manga, but still good.) and a few episodes of Genshiken (It’s started off kind of slow, but I have a feeling it’ll get better.)
I’ve been meaning to finsih Cowboy Bebop for about two years so I’ll probably get that out of the way first. Maybe some Studio Ghibli as well.

Paprika turned me onto Satoshi Kon. I preferred Paprika, with its multiple collapsing realities. This is a bit more sentimental.

However, it’s the same brilliant combination of the best of 2-D painting and 3-D digital effects.

awwww . . . GARDENER ROBOT!

This is not my favorite Miyazaki movie. That would be Spirited Away, or Howl’s Moving Castle. This moves a little more slowly. But it is still lush, imaginative, and humane. A good movie for both adults and kids.

As long as you have extra time I think this is worthwhile. I think the art is amazing and the story lines are engaging – but just as it is with any kind of entertainment – some of it is a waste of your time and you leave it unhappy. Just be discerning and get opinions from people who have similar tastes, but don’t be afraid to pick something out randomly. It may just become your favorite!

Watched the first three episodes of this yesterday. It’s actually not bad. I can’t wait to watch the rest of it. I’ll have more of a “review” once I finish it.
