Now I’ve looked over Highlights some more, and I don’t think I’ll go with it, primarily because they say, “We buy all rights, including copyright….” I don’t want to sell copyrights. Is this normal for a magazine?

I think I’ll try for Highlights for Children. They’re respectable and I’ve always liked them. First, I think I’ll ask others to read the story. Some kids maybe? I wonder if it would be awkward to print out my story and ask kids in Barnes&Noble or the library if they would read it and tell me what they think. My younger sister works with little kids for her STEP programme too; I could always ask her to have the teacher read it to the class, or something along those lines.
Well, now that I know Highlights’ guidelines ( http://www.highlights.com/custserv/customerservicecontent2main.jsp?iContentID=2552&iCategoryID=203&CCNavIDs=3,203 ), I should go to bed.

I’ve written a short story, and I’m pretty satisfied with it too. I’m going to research magazines for kids to find the best for publication. I hope it’s a worthy story. <3

Yes, this counts.
Last year I wrote practically an article per issue. i think I missed maybe 2 out of 8.
I wrote some good stuff. Some people commented that the articles i wrote were the ones they enjoyed most. This was before I revealed that it was I who wrote them (I used an alias in most of them, so they didn’t know). Especially the one where I argued in my right to believe in fairies because other people believe in religion.
And I got paid, too. I made about $300, which I then consequently spent on presents for peoples’ birthdays and Christmas.
I am trying to get back into it, but last year they had themes, so it was easy to find something to write about. This year there are no themes, and I have no idea what I want to write about.
