This really is a matter of life and death 3 months ago

How many times have you seen “disaster footage” of people scrambling to get out of the way of a flood or stampede or who knows what? The ability to quickly pull up your body weight really is a matter of life and death! Do you remember the Katrina footage of all those helpless people struggling to get up to a rooftop? I need to be able to lift my body weight! So with that said, what exercises can I do to work my way up to a pull up? I see people talking about push ups (I love push ups), do those really work the right muscles? I need some guidance!

I hurt my wrist, badly. I can’t even bend it much or really hold on to things. Can’t do pushups to work on doing pullups. Does anyone know any good exercises that are easy on your wrist?

Right now I can do one. I can remember doing 11 in a row. That was about 15 years and 30 pounds ago.



Shoulder is Killing Me 10 months ago

Well week one of the pullup periodization is working well, but it’s really aggravating an old shoulder injury. It’s amazing how 3 strict pullups is so much harder on one’s body than 6 quick ones. I can already feel improvement



Reviving this goal 10 months ago

ell I’m trying to reach my goal of 10 pullups this year. I’m trying this periodization schedule. Currently my RM is 3 strict pullups. So far so good I like the program and it’s pretty easy to follow.



Okay so is it a chin up or a pull up? 1 year ago

Apparently there’s a difference. And pull ups are even harder than chin ups. Either way, I can’t do either one properly. So my dad set up a pull up bar for me to use today. I guess I’ll just have to keep lifting weights and trying it out!

I think i’m sliding back. Yesterday i could only do 4! I was so close too. :(

I tried again today, and could only get 6 of them. If i return to the floor between each one (like on a lower bar) I can do 7. I’m trying, but they get boring after a while.

I think I will try to do 3 sets of 4 each day.
