I’ve been finding it harder and harder to run because I can’t always find a sitter for little ben. So then something wonderful and unexpected happened…drum roll please…my lovely mother bought me jogging stroller! So now I don’t have to begs friends and family to let me go on my much needed runs. YAY!
I bundle ben up so he won’t get cold during my morning run. :D

More than just running 3 months ago

Its a really great goal, but its not for everyone. Some people just dont like to run. there are so many other forms of enjoyable cardio out there, don’t limit yourself to just running! I was a runner for 8 years, i know its hard for me to get back into running unless im in a new environment, then i love to run! But for now, i just incorporate running into my workout routine as a different form of cardio. Just dont forget about biking, blading, swimming…there are lots!

I’ve been running every day, well, actually I go to the Y and run on the elyptical once, sometimes twice a day. I’ll go early in the morning before work and sometimes later at night around 7 ot 8. I just grab a cold water, pop some gum in my mouth (swear it makes it easier!) and rock out to my ipod. It helps to get the machines in front of the tv or windows to help with the boredom. I also run around our neighborhood 2 to 4 miles. I like to go at night when its dark and no ones around. Its also cooler and sometimes I’ll run/walk for two hours at a time. We have a safe neighborhood and I know 8 different families plus the streets are well lit. I just avoid the dark areas and if I get scared twice i make myself go home. My body is looking hot and I’m loving my me time. Do it everyone, it only sucks for about a week then you’ll like it!

I really got into this for awhile, but I’ve completely slacked the past few years of my life. It’s one of those things that is just hard to start!!! It’s so easy when I’m at my parents’ and I go out running with the dog, but my apartment doesn’t allow them ; (. What do you guys do to keep yourself motivated? Do you have any certain rituals around your practice?

I doubt I’m going to keep up with this, and my own reward is how i’ll look and feel (and getting out of the house, away from my mother, for a justifiable reason), but I’m gonna try it. Day one is complete though! All the way around Great Seneca Lake in Gaithersburg Maryland!

I first ran cross-country then track in high school… I quit both. I’m not proud of it… I didn’t try very hard and it wasn’t a good idea to try and be on a team for running when I hadn’t built up my endurance… you don’t have to “try-out” for cross-country or track so that’s pretty much why I decided to try them… and for cross-country a woman I knew from my church was going to be the coach at my high school that season and that made me want to try it. I never ran before! My sister who was a senior (I was a freshman) also joined the team… we “practiced” for a few weeks maybe in the mornings before the summer pre-season practices even began… we sucked!!! We could barely run 1 mile without stopping and walking. We didn’t get much better, either… looking back I wonder why I didn’t quit right then, and maybe practice for the next year and try it next year? Well my sister was there with me so that made me feel a little better… anyway, my point is, I literally haven’t been running in like 4 years but because it’s like the best form of exercise, doesn’t require me to get a gym membership or equipment (I’m poor) I REALLY want to get myself to do it. I know I can’t just start running miles and miles without stopping after not having run in so long… I couldn’t even do that then! I want to be able to do that eventually though.



I mean it this time. 9 months ago

From now on, every morning. No excuses and no exceptions. I want better stamina so I can do track next year, and everyone who’ll be trying out will have at least a year of sports under their belt. I’m going to lose at least seven pounds and run 3k in under 30 minutes.
