You would think that they would motivate me to get them emptied and out of my life. Instead they have become part of the scenery. However One is a box of clothes (mostly coats/jackets) that I should be able to sell now that the seasons are changing.

I’m getting down to things that I still dont want to part with for whatever reason, are difficult to get rid of like random furniture or irritating things to get rid of like clothing. I know doing more now will make any potential move easier but I’ve just gotten lazy. I’ve been spending more time trying to enjoy my off hours but I’ll see what I can do about doing a few min a day.

I’ve been interested in doing this for quite some time and have been slowly working on it. Its now defunct but I used to like reading the rucksack life blog as the writer had only 100 or so possessions. Also in the intro to Hooked the editor mentions having a friend that has a nicely decorated apartment with fewer than 250 or so items. Every time he gets something he has to choose something to get rid of. At least at first I don’t have a specific numerical goal, and I may never, but I like the idea.

So last trip I went on we had a casualties. Our luggage was destroyed. Not too much of a suprise as they were made in China. On one the retractable handle became stuck. It takes some serious force to get it to go up or down. The other’s wheel was flattened, god knows where.
Last night I took the good handle and put it on the bag with the good wheels and now finally at least have one good functioning bag. I listed the other on freecycle and hope to re-home it. One less thing to have to buy and go to the landfill.

I’m going to be preparing to move shortly and I’ve been holding on to things that i dont need for the last few years partially because I was lazy and it was easier to put in my spare room and forget about it. Now knowing that I may have to pack them up to cart then somewhere else that i dont need them has been motivation to start purging seriously. I am fortunate that a friend has just moved into an apt and has was more then happy to take a lot of things off my hand. I can see the floor in my bedroom closet and have taken photos of all the things I cleared out today that I’m going to be listing on Craigslist and ebay.
I also finally sold an old snowboard jacket today so that was a nice extra 35 bucks. :D Now to get rid of more. I want it all gone.

There is a possibility of us moving in the not too distant future so I need to start discarding all the random things that have seemed to accumulated themselves into the odd corners of my house. I’ve been doing this process slowly over the last year and have made some great extra cash that has carried us through some lean times. Now I think it is time to get a little more down and dirty and get rid of things that are just occupying space and has no purpose.

I finally sold my old snowboard boots last week. I feels good evertime an unused thing leaves the house and finds a new home. I have too much stuff still. Perhapse I should step this up.

I sold a desk today. I am now $500 richer. I may put that towards getting my seals replaced on my scooter. EEEE! That was a NICE bonus to get. I also was able to list my old snowboard boots, bindings and jacket due to the season agian. I’m hopeful. It will free up some room in the garage and closet.
