I found a Jewish book club, now forming, listed on Craig’s List for the Lake Merritt area. I just sent an email. It depends on where and when they meet, for starters.

How I did it: I've documented on where the meetings take place and went with a couple of books of my own, to talk about them and to give them for exchange. I met a lot of interesting people, published authors, bloggers, we've talked about some books and some other generalities.. It was fun, but not as fun as I expected. I've already sent my suggestions to the organizer :) Read how I did it…

How I did it: I looked at meetup.com for groups in my area. There was one that had an upcoming meeting with the assigned book. I purchased the book, read some of it, and showed up! It's really great to be around people who love reading as much as I do! Other people who 'get" reading. . . Read how I did it…
How I did it: I saw a poster for a specific book discussion program in a local library I frequent. The program was focusing on"Love in Jewish Literature." I thought this sounded like an excellent program and called the library and registered. It is a lecture/ discussion style book group led by a local professor and I am the youngest member. Lou is in Shanghai (29th November - 22nd December) Brr!
I just remembered that my local library has a club for “teens” that is either a youth club or a book club. I will have to look it up. When I was younger I was involved in reading clubs but they had no discussion about the books. I’d like to read one and discuss how it made you feel, why you liked it, why you didn’t like it, if you would recommend it to others etc.
i love to read all kinds of interesting books that will keep my interest through out the whole story

I read on someones (sorry, can’t remember who’s) entries about their goal to do this that they had seen a book club advertised in a book shop window, so that’s my next action towards this goal, to go and look at all the book shop windows I can find.

I would really like to do this but…
a) I’m not sure where to start.
b) All my time, energy and focus is on sorting a job out at the moment.
So the goal is on here, so it reminds me, but it’s a more long term goal. Hopefully sometime next year.
I am supposed to be there now bit I took the whimps option and didn’t go. So much for making efforts to be social. I had a rotten day from the start…(some parents know how to make your day). Came home with a headache and that was the end of it…..the thought of having to talk to strangers and sounding completely dumb got the better of me. I should make the call tomorrow and see if I can go to the other group which is on next Thursday this once, if I don’t I am likely to just find excuses. I had actually been looking forward to it all week. Typical.
kestenya I have realised that being a woman like Mary Russel is a good plan
unfortunatly, there is no book club in my town, so till moving to bigger city or starting my own reading group, I’ll must be satisfied with online book clubs, so I’ve just joined one.

now that I’ve been to a book lovers meeting and realized I liked it, I think it’s time to find a book club to join.
I know there’s one here in Bucharest where they exchange books and opinions and my plan is to go to every monthly meeting they have.
Susnick8 Feeling really down today. I need a job and some money.
It would be great for me because I love to read and need to get out and meet people.
I have joined and the goal doesn’t say anything about actually haveing to go now does it?
Went in and got the book for October…..something called ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’ by Mary Ann Shaffer. I have signed up for the group that meets on the last Thursday of the Month. Apparently it is a pretty small group and it is simply informal discussion. I think that I should go to at least 3 meetings before I decide if it is for me or not. At that point I will mark the goal as done either way.

“Would anybody be interested in joining an Internet book club to read the Memoirs of Casanova, http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/c#a1075?”
