Librarythings.com helps to keep your reading list nice and organized, much like this site does for goals.
My record is twenty-two books on a list all ready within the next month.
I’ve read two out of the five and I am highly disappointed. I expected so much better than I got.

for new years resolutions…
I’ve done this and read continuously this year, not a ton, but enough.
And I’m sure I’ll keep reading, so no need to have this as a goal anymore…

for this year. I feel like I have not read all that much.
Jane Jakeman’s The Egyptian Coffin.
It was a bit better than the first book of hers. I rather like her main character Ambrose Malfine.
Will probably finish the third book of the series, as I’m sick in bed today….

I finished Wicked just now. I read it for my sister. It was sort of Harry Potter for adults with a lot of different themes.
In it, I sort of picked out a few things.
the Armless Nessarose, whose mother took tablets and then had an armless child.. Anyone remember the thalidomide babies of the 60’s and early 70’s.
the beatings and subjugation of Animals, may be a reference to Hitler’s Germany. or of Russia in certain years.
Roundup of the QUadlings and forced moement, sort of reminicient of the Native Americans.
and theres more.
In a lot of ways the book was strange, I didn’t [articularly enjoy it, but at the same time, I couldn’t stop reading it. So there’s a good book I suppose.

“Let there be blood”
It was not the best murder mystery I have ever read. The plot does not flow smoothly, and not enough information is revealed to the reader until the end, making it “less fun” but I did enjoy it, and will read the next two inthe series.
Will be releasing this book into the wild for Book crossing.

COnfessions of an All night runner… by Dean Karnazes.
I absoloutely LOVE this book. It was very easy to read (A feat as Karnazes is an endurance athlete, and financier, not writer)
It is actually inspiring, I am totally not inspired to run 100 miles without stopping, but, I am definitely more excited about running!!!
and it came to me autographed which made me laugh!
I’m thinking actually about emailing Karnazes to see if he might be interested in running the Blue Ridge relay as a one man show. 208 miles. I’m hoping to participate in it as a relay.

I just finished an excellent read: Always Faithful: a memoir of the marine dogs of WWII by William Putney
This book chronicles in a very readable fashion the development and deployment of dog platoons in WWII. I knew they used dogs in the war, but before this I had no idea about several things.
WWII dogs were recruited from family homes, people actually gave up their family pets for war service!
I did not realize the danger the dogs faced, as they constantly patrolled on point position.
and I learned a bit more about the competition between various branches of the armed forces.
This book was very easy to read, and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
