that I don’t need to have this on my list. He’s amazed at my ability to remember people’s name. The area I was concerned about is right when I meet someone and they say their name and it goes in one ear and out the other. I’ve been working on this. And just having it here has brought my attention to it. It was a goal I put on when I made my list which I think now isn’t a problem.
    So I’m marking it done!

A notebook, some repetition, and reminding myself from the notebook at the end of the day and in a few days’ time generally does it, if I don’t have to remember too many new people’s names in one go. I have a related problem with faces – but I suspect that may be an emotional attachment thing.

I always lose the name game. 1 month ago

It’s kind of faux pas to forget the name of someone you would like to have a second conversation with, but those tend to be the people who’s names I remember the least. I’m not really interested in their name, im interested in everything else. And those that do not pique my interest at all, well, all i can ever seem to remember about them IS their name. Sort of ironic, when you are trying to remember friends from high school, or some interesting stranger you had a 45 minute conversation with on a bus.

We moved to Little Rock and joined a large Church with 4,000 members. I meet a man a few weeks ago, who is 16 years my senior and is a semi-retired news caster on a local TV station, we just exchanged pleasantries that one time. I saw him again Sunday night and he walked right up to me and said, “How are you doing Cal?” I would love to have that kind of recall.

Haha i’m terribile with there are a few people at uni who I’ve constantly seen around uni and who I talk to whenever I see as well… only problem is they told me their names ages ago and i’ve completely forgot them! It’s too late to ask for their names lol.

it's something i have a knack for... 3 months ago

i invest in people i meet. learn a little bit more about them, besides just their names. and it makes their remembering their names so much easier (tracy with the step-kids, mr. odette who likes anne rand, ms. mooney who always checks out movies, etc). it really creeps people out, lol.

I hardly ever remember names and it bothers me a lot.
Still, most people I never see again anyway so it hasn’t mattered too much.

    So Embarrasing! 4 months ago

Two things that I am really bad at, I mean like mentally handicaped, is; spelling and names. I once forgot my bosses wife (who I had known for 4 years) at a party and had to introduce her as Mrs._. I saw her years later and apologized for my behavior. She laughed and told me that she had done the very same thing to the woman (a mutual friend of ours)that was hosting the get-together were at that day, after knowing her over for 4 years. She couldn’t have said anything that would have made me feel better then that confession!
