Kayaked across a bay and down a river. Great rhythmic activity for thinking and sight-seeing.

How I did it: Kayaking was much easier than I expected. I rented a kayak (the flat kind, not the whitewater kind) and went out on the river. It was very easy, you just have to get used to it (turning took me a while). The bird watching opportunities are great, since a kayak is so quiet I see herons, osprey, wood ducks, all kinds of beautiful things. I still want to go whitewater kyaking. Another goal for another time... Read how I did it…
How I did it: A friend of mine's family owns a boat, and they took me along with them on a weekend-long trip. At one of the islands we visited, we got to go kayaking! They showed me the proper way to get in and out and how to paddle; it was actually a lot easier than I thought, and sososo fun! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went to Catalina Island. I did this with my girl friend. We rented a 2 person kayak, ans the water was nice and we were able to see the fish as we went further out. Read how I did it…

How I did it: So it was an ultra accomplishment because we didn't do normal kayaking, we did it in the dark! I couldn't see anything and it was a narrow river and we were crashing into trees..and let me tell you..i HATE trees ESPECIALLY in the dark. You don't know and can't see what's lurking in them!! Swam in a lake in pure darkness but saw the water glow from motion. Amazing. Such a crazy and great experience. Loved it, not sure if I would do it agai… Read how I did it…

Must go tomorrow!!
Who: Alex
Where: Blackstone Canal, Lincoln, RI
When: before winter
How: Rent kayaks from Blackstone Valley Outfitters (nearby). They’re $35/day, which is a bit expensive for me (I was hoping $10/hour or some such). But they do have tandems for $45/day, or a three-hour guided tour for $30/each.

how peaceful! Actually, I wasn’t sure if I could do this because of my bum back. I thought I was going to have to cross all the physically active items off of my “No Regrets List”, but a friend stated that I could let the water current do all the work. All I had to do was stear the craft.
What fun. I wanna go again!
not only did i kayak, but i went through the fiords of norway! talk about breathtaking.. it was soo beaYOUtiful.

Hopefully on Saturday
Didn’t make it this month. Life is getting too stressful again. I am burning the candle at both ends during the week and seriously need to sleep on the weekends.
To go kayaking, I really need to wake up early and make it down to the beach without the hassle of traffic.
I’ll make my monthly goal in October. September? Fuggedaboutit!
It’s my job. I’m a kayak guide out of Kailua on Oahu. It’s good exercise and a lot of fun, but we have to go in all kinds of weather, and that, sometimes, is not so fun. I speak Japanese, so usually I’m guiding groups of Japanese tourists. We paddle out to some small islands. I give an eco tour and we eat lunch on a little beach and snorkel before paddling back.
