Technorati Tags 1 year ago

Since I started doing this the whole tagging and folksonomy thing has really taken off, so most blogging systems now have tagging built in.
I just recently updated my Technorati profile and that made me realize that it’s been a while since I’ve consciously worked on adding tags. Now I don’t even think about it and just add the tags.
I love tags and use them all of the time, which is a bit geeky, but it’s all about categorizing things and making them easier to find.
What was even more interesting was to see how the ranking of my blogs has changed over the past while as the ones that I post most frequently on have a higher ranking than the ones that aren’t so active. That makes sense. The other good thing about Technorati is being able to see who is linking to your site and to be notified of it right away. Following the connections between sites is fascinating.

still working on it... 1 year ago

I think I finally got them working. I wish they were more aesthetically appealing, but at least this way I should get more traffic to my blog.

Blog on MySpace Technorati rank 1 year ago

I was surprised to find the rank for the blog I have on MySpace. Since I’m posting at least 3-4 entries a week I’m sure it is showing as an active spot on the web.

I’ve got other blogs for various side/focused topics.

Technorati Tags: Very Easy and Felt Great! 2 years ago

I found this A Consuming Experience link that provided a few different ways to accomplish this. I used the Technorati Magical Sheep Bookmarklet—Baaaaaaa! tool that creates the html code that you can enter at the end of your blog entry (in HTML editing no wysiwyg). Both my website and feeds showed my tags just beautifully. Visit my blog if you like to see :).

Easy to do; increases blog traffic 2 years ago

There are a number of good extensions out there that make this easy to do. Many blog softwares have plugins that will add these tags for you. If you have Firefox, there are Firefox extensions (and Grease Monkey scripts) that will add them if your blog software does not support them natively (for example, Blogger).

Once you start using them, you’ll start getting a lot more hits.

If you have a serious blog and you’re looking for serious traffic, this is a must. Use tags to get you going until Google picks you up.

it's not working.... 2 years ago

as far as I can see anyway. see my blog (todays entry) for details. :(

Problematic 3 years ago

I have a bookmarklet which makes adding technorati tags easier, but I don;t use it on every post, just some of them.
There’s also a problem with knowing which tags to use.
It seemed like a good idea to use “DAR” for example, but clicking on the DAR link back to technorati yields lots of posts in german because “dar” is a common word which means ‘that’ or ‘because’ or something. So technorati seems to mix up tags with ordinary search words somehow.
