How I did it: I first drank absinthe while i was living in the south of France!! Must admit i had never heard of it before i drank it! lol!.. anyway me and my friend wanted to try something new so the barman suggested absinthe! et voila!! ggHaving drank it since, while i was living in Spain, at room temperature and from a beer glass i would definitely, recommend serving it the correct way: Put a lil fork (absinthe spoon) over the shot glass, then pl… Read how I did it…

How I did it: Open mouth. Pour in. Swallow. Repeat. You're really supposed to mix it with sugar/water, but I got lazy and just drank it straight. It hit me like a shot of 151. I wasn't loving it after the third shot, but it did its job. Drunkeness Achieved. I drank it at home, then went out...so no special experience there. I wouldn't mind trying other kinds...but maybe mixing it next time. It's pretty hard to get down. And I don't suggest drinking… Read how I did it…
How I did it: The absinthe was directly from Spain, brought over from my good friend Chris. We prepared it correctly, which is explained below. The feeling you get is most certainly a drunk feeling, though Ive heard you need to drink alot of it to actually hallucinate. The feeling is very relaxed but happy. It was a nice experience. How I did it: I bought a tiny La Fee Parisian miniature from an online store and was very excited to receive the package a few days later.Having read the instructions very carefully, I was surprised to read no reference to lighting the absinthe, apparently this is something popularised by Hollywood, so, I 'louched', had a sip and it was alright, I was slightly disheartened as I wasn't seeing any fairies or had the compulsion to cut off my own ear, so I… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I was at a party and someone had brought it back from their holiday. The boys were daring each other to have a shot and only the "tough" ones were doing it (bare in mind I was 17) and I was the only girl that tried it.. and then chased it with a bacardi breezer (we are classy like that in Croydon)I was sick at the party, at the train station, at home, the next morning..Maybe I'll do it again now I'm a bit older and enjoy it more. It was fun and we got to see how the absinthe is made in this small distillery. There’s a LOT of different herbs that go into it – although each distillery has their own recipe. It was fun to watch and try…but I don’t like licorice and, since the one mandatory ingredient is wormwood Artemisia absinthium, that’s what it tastes like. It is very potent, even when watered down with the 5:1 ratio we were recommended. Just the taste tests gave me pretty good buzz. It is legal in the U.S. now (not sure where it’s still illegal) and this distillery is working through a distributor to make it available in the U.S. this year. We brought a bottle back of the really good (green) style back with us and I have a sip now and again. I loved this distillery and the tour we took. Anyone going to Switzerland should check it out. It was small and intimate and we felt like we were the only people who had come through there in days. I’ll upload a picture of the distillery’s absinthe label, so you can look for it if you’re interested in purchasing some. Your local wine store should be able to order it from the distributor.
We did the traditional method which is dissolving a sugar cube with ice water over a glass of absinth. We didn’t have traditional absinth spoons or glasses, obviously, but I gather the effect is the same.
Asked my friend S about it. She had it once and said it was aweful! Haha: much much too strong. We’ll see.
Its the fabled holy grail of drinks isn`t it?
I`ve never even seen a bottle of the stuff in real life so once the oppertunity presents itself i`ll be up for a taste lol.
Absinthe is illegal in the US, but I found some in Tokyo. It was a bit harsh and numbing. I don’t think it had the qualities of the original absinthe, that green liquid we see in the painting, The Absinthe Drinker. Mine was a clear color, like vodka. I believe the original was opiated, and I’m sure that would be illegal everywhere, but I’m willing to try a shot if you can find a bottle.

“Anyone know if I can find any Absinth in China? I'm in Beijing right now and leave in 2 weeks. I've looked in a few places but don't seem to see any. Or is this strictly a European beverage?”
