tcousins is figuring out what to do
The first “final” draft is done and now it’s time for some major editing and re-working. After seven “first” drafts I’m ready for the next step of polishing it up!
How I did it: This portfolio book spans an overview of work done by my graphic design agency over the years 2006 and 2007. This was our second book. It took a while to finish but it was worth every minute.
Lessons & tips: take your time, you want to get this done right
Resources: My colleagues and partners at the agency, and our clients for letting us make al these projects

Arilan is writing her Nano
I’ve officially decided that Nano is my only hope for this. That would be Nanowrimo or National Novel Writing Month for the uninitiated. Basically a no-prize writing contest where you write 50,000 words of a novel in 30 days. This is year 5, I’ve won once so far and that novel is the ONLY one of my major WIPs that’s anywhere near being completed. In fact, if we ignore the gaping hole in the middle then it is done. It has a beginning, most of a middle and an end. None of my other novels(and there are 12 majors ones and innumerable minor ones, not including fanfiction) are nearly that far along. And I’ve been writing some of them for almost 8 years.
What this means, folks, is that Nano is my only, ONLY hope of finishing any of my novels and, obviously, you need a finished novel to get one published. So, therefore, Nano is my only hope of completing this goal.
dickchingadero is PROcrastinating. Not amateur crastinating.
Yes. I want to do this. I need to do this. I’m spending a shitload o’ ducats to get a degree in this. This must be done.
Not inapropos of nothing, the last three major jobs I’ve had are with companies that have shut down.
So, you see, I need to do this.
Also, right now, I’m avoiding finishing a short story that is due tomorrow.
alwaysandnever67 feels like death
I’ve always had a passion for writing.
It’s my God-given talent, if I do say so myself.
I’ve always wanted to be the next Emily Dickenson, or Charlotte Bronte, or Emily Bronte…
Write something as passionate, and lasting as Pride and Predjudice, or Sense and Sensibility, or Wuthering Heights.
I’ve always loved the romance novels. And romantic poetry.
I’ve tried my hand at both. While, I have some killer poems I’d like to put together in a book one day, I don’t think I have enough life experience, honestly, to write a good book.
I want to write a love story like no one else has.
Something you’ve never heard before.
I want it to be timeless.
To touch the hearts of thousands.
And I’m going to do it someday.

We all have a book inside us, mines had many forms. :D
I got a letter from Harlequin last week…in response to my very polite “What’s up?” letter concerning the rewrite I did at their suggestion.
Their letter just said that they would let me know shortly what was up.
Eh well.
I’m having some interest in the ghost romance I wrote half a crappy draft of for last year’s NaNoWriMo…now I know what it needs…
AND I’ve done a little bit on a mainstream novel. Next I’m going to plot that one out, chapter by chapter, and talk over the whole structure with G. Plotting is hard, but it works for me.
JackJaw11 loves old cheesy horror movies!
So for two strait days I sat down and worked really hard on trying to make a finalized draft of my book. I’m still not done, but I think I may be ready to at least try and get it published by the end of the year :)!!!!!
CelestiHel is gearing up for NaNo!
I used to be an excellent writer, and I let it slip away from me. This year I will get back into good writing habits with NaNoWriMo (except I’ll be doing creative non-fiction) and hopefully it will go somewhere.
