I’m going to start singing lessons and I hope I an do this. My goal is to sing in front of the whole school next semester..
stacca is ticking things off the list.
I realise I was very stressed the last couple of weeks, i went to class on Saturday and all went well..
Still quiet nervous singing in front of others… but even the tutor said I had improved.
A friend of mines cousin, is starting a covers band and wants me to sing with them… I said Yes… haven’t practiced yet.
I’m so tempted to do this, if only so that the people listening to me at Karaoke don’t have to cover their ears everytime I’m on stage. Seriously though I was looking on Gumtree and there was an advert from a band looking for a vocalist and I so wished I could do it – the music and style they wanted was the style I like and would want to be able to do.
I really want to be able to reply to one of these ads one day and do an audition, only problem is that I had Glandular fever as a kid and it’s screwed up my throat, I still get thore throats all the time for no apparent reason.
I don’t want to be famous, I just want to have fun and be able to sing and do it all properly; especially as music seems to be the only thing that makes sense to me at the moment.
Got married last week! :) And I have got back to my guitar classes today. Now i need to learn singing so i can take her to the roof, set up a candle light dinner and sing for her … just for her!
I have asked a friend to help. Lets see how it goes… Wish me luck!!

i’ve always loved singing, and would like to be good enough not to want to hide my voice. i’ve been in choirs for short periods, i’ve done some lessons, i’ve sung in bands, on stage, in public. i still don’t know if my voice is any good though. it sounds pretty awful when i record it, but i keep getting encouagement to continue. Ummmmm??

Decided not to go this week, I feel that the songs we are singing are above my range and trying to sing them is putting stress on my throat.
I have had a sore throat all this week and don’t want to strain my voice before my radio show tomorrow.
I will have to go back to class next week, as I have paid for the whole course.. so I will have to get better this week.
I’m going all hippy in my approach and have purchased a singing hypnosis CD from http://www.singinghypnotherapy.com/
I am looking into the alexander technique for singing.
And are going to do yoga EVERYDAY!!
I will not be defeated

So I started my daytime course yesterday (saturday)
and today I feel terrible.
I had never sung infront of anyone other than my singing tutor, and to sing in front of five other people made me sooooo nervous… my hands were shaking, and my voice was shaking and quavering.
the course was from 11am – 6pm and by the end of the day I couldn’t sing, I was exhausted, embarrsed and my throat hurt.
I felt I had taken 3 big steps backward..

So in 6 months I have come a long way!!
My range has increased and there is no longer breaks in my voice. I feel very confident and are starting my Group singing class this Saturday…
Can’t wait.

OrdinaryGeek asks,
“It's been ten months since I started taking lessons. The initial excitement is gone and every little improvement takes a lot more effort than it did in the beginning. It's easy to quit now. How do I motivate myself to keep going?”

“How do you find a good vocal teacher? The only teacher I know lives about an hour and a half away and she might not have any openings soon. I would like to find a teacher near my city. What do qualities should I look for?”

“Perhaps a bit O/T, but does anyone have recommendations for recording/mixing software for the PC? I'm hoping eventually to record tracks of myself to pass around to friends, and I'd like the track quality to be decent (hopefully my voice will be too...)”
