I’d love to be able to do splits because my sport (martial arts tricking) requires me to be flexible. I stretch once or twice a day.
My deadline is December 31st 2008
I’ve checked my progression yesterday and so far I’m at 130 degrees.
I’ve been stretching since about September (started lightly to get flexible and now it’s about pushing my limits)
I have quite a lot of pain and I never was able to do a sidesplit. This photo is over a week old.. I do get deeper than that.. but i am still far away. I have a bet with my girlfriend that I will nail it beofe the 27th of November… but that seems impossible by now. I stretch every day..
A good way to get the correct hip posture whilst doing a front split is to :
1 find a corner in your house where two walls meet.
2 get your back leg (left leg if ur doing a right split and vice versa for left) and put your knee in the very corner(where the walls meet the floor)
3 get your other leg and stretch it out into a split but with your back leg bent at a 90 degree angle.
you won’t be able to go down as far as usaul (probably) because this method forces you to get the correct posture in your hips. It should look like the pic on this web page, except doing it in a corner is much easier. http://gymnastics.about.com/od/trainingadvice/ss/frontsplit_6.htm

This is a very slow process for me. I find I have the best results when doing it at night while putting Cooper to sleep.
