Should I give Up on this?

I can’t find volunteer work that I think I’ll enjoy. I put this on my list over 6 months ago. Should I give up?

How I did it: I worked in a local, independant charity shop, un-paid in all my spare time for three months. I basically just helped the lady who ran it in any way that I could and she was really happy for the help so I deem this a job well done. Lmao. And I'm really glad I did it too because I feel good for helping people and it can count as part of my doe award. Lessons & tips: Just think about why you're doing it and all the people you're helping and even the worst jobs will be worth it in the end, after all you did volunteer to do it and no deed is an unselfish one so you must be hoping to get something out of it. How I did it: First we had to brainstorm, names, layouts, needs, rules etc. Then a lot of painting. And finally open day. I worked there nearly every day after school til it closed. We also petitioned for a skate park to be built. The open day was huge, I'll never forget my brother being carted away by the ambo's on a spine board. Fortunately he was ok. How I did it: I found something I like and I just kept finding ways to make it more enjoyable. and now I'm just filling space to make the program happy. Signed up to do some volunteering abroad next summer. I’ll find out if I was accepted in a week. Next summer is a long time away though, so I’m still on the look out for volunteer opportunities. I saw a flier to volunteer at my campus’s helpline and I might be looking into that.

That’s pretty awesome that you want to do volunteer work. I’ve been volunteering at a local children’s hospital for about a year and a half now. It’s really great feeling to know that you are helping out and making a difference.

I’m looking for volunteer work in my area. I am on a couple of waiting lists which I guess is a great thing as it means lots of people are doing it :) I’m really interested in animal welfare, working with the homeless or doing something for terminally ill people. I would also love to get involved in some sort of project which helps younger people in the community with their reading and writing, communication etc. I’ll check back when I’ve heard from the various places.

So since it’s summer i’ve been working on getting more volunteering done… So far i’ve volunteered at multiple church events to get more volunteering… So far this summer i have gottan about 30 hours of volunteering done, but I’m working to get more!
