edanial is learning some basics of French
I am learning French at my School, its an interesting Language.
But need some assistence in order to make it more good.
I will be taking some short courses aswell.
How I did it: I immersed myself in books and listened to France culture all the time, and of course all those French people around me speaking French helped a little.
Lessons & tips: For every new vocabulary word you learn try to repeat it in five different sentences within a short time-frame, if you're more advanced try to look up French words by their definition (in French), and then maybe a week or two later look up the English translation, I find that it helps to ground the meaning but not link it in your brain to English words (which will slow down your thought process)

I love french so much honestly. It is one of my passions. I started learning french about a year ago and I have stuck with it. Its one of the things in life that I really enjoy. I enjoy learning and speaking it. I plan to get fluent one day even though its gonna take some hard work. I also want to visit a few french countries like Guadeloupe or Martinique who knows I may find my husband out there. I hav been doing pimsleur, studying textbooks, listening to french music and watching french tv. This has helped me quite alot. I also know a few french people at college and I recently started talking to this girl who is from ivory coast which is cool. I hope she can help me to become more fluent.
Last month me and a pal signed up to take weekly private lessons from a friend of a friend who is a French native. So far its a slow and daunting process but it is enjoyable. I feel a little overwhelmed with everything else I have going on but I hope to continue. Its a bit pricey to take private lessons but I think its worth it. I am finding that my prior learnings in high school help a bit but its still very new to my brain. My main goal would be more to read french as opposed to conversational french although both is ideal. I am hoping to go on a 6 month europe vacation someday and thought this would be helpful.
it’s sorta been something I wanted to do ever since my grandmother made me take spanish. it was supposed to be my choice, and she decided to make it for me.
Amber_Christian is getting ready for the kids to start school tomorrow!! :)
There is something romantic about the french language, I have a good friend who has said she will try and teach me, but I’m pretty sure I’m probably going to have to take some sort of a class. Dang ADD makes it so hard to pay attention!! lol :)
I want to learn to speak french. I recently went to stay with a french family and it made me realise how appauling my french is! I’m going to try really hard to master the accent and get more confident at speaking so hopefully I will pass my french A level.
French immersion programmes when I was a kid did not work (not sufficiently). Core French in high school is a joke. French courses in uni made me feel stupid and embarrassed of my accent. Moving to France did the trick. Now I feel like I can speak French and not feel like I’m lying about this skill.
jenniflea is wishing she could get more disciplined
Booked into Sept 08 French course through Open University. It will take me to GCSE level within one year. Looking forward to it!!
