giving up sugar 4 weeks ago

this year i decided to give up sugar, it means that its not what i turn to when i feel down, today is the first day in 2008 that i have eaten any sweets – dolly mix got the better of my hormones and my sight had gone kind of blurry,
I still haven’t had any cakes, biscuits, chocolate, ice cream or desserts.
Although it has helped alot, some days you just neeeeed something sweet and it means I am missing out on some of the best things in life… like no birthday cake on my birthday… no ice creams in summer.
It has proved to me that I do have willpower and I dont actually have any intention at the moment of going back to eating cakes, chocolate or biscuits.
Try it… but maybe for a few months… and dont start over christmas!
Just dont allow yourself, say you are not allowed, it is as though someone else has banned me, thats how I feel, its not even a conscious choice anymore.

Had terrible cravings this evening??? ate half a packet of star bursts with my son. So yummy. Craving went and I felt normal again. Also finding I am so much more hungry when I’m not eating sugar. Last thing I need is to put on more weight. Unless the hunger is just a craving???????? Try again tomorrow

I have craved sugar since I stopped smoking 2 years ago. Now I’m addicted to sugar instead of nicotine aaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggghhh!
Am putting on weight and my teeth are suffering. Read someone elses goals and she said she limits it to her birthday and christmas. Might try that one myself.

I forgot this was a goal of mine. I rarely, if ever, eat refined sugar anymore. I’ve also significantly cut down on refined grains.

I've been trying to do this for about four years 3 months ago

Damn it I can’t
I definitely eat less sugar, some days or weeks I do not eat at all
but I do not want to eat sugar anymore.

If I stop eating sugar, I have this sugar cravings (ice cream)

Sugar gives me headache and makes me sick

bleah 4 months ago

husband came home with cake the other night, and gave me a bite. that’s all it takes for me, people. have had intense cravings for sugar ever since, which translate into things like white bread and frosted cereal in my case, since I try so hard to keep away from the full-blown sugar indulgences. doesn’t make a lot of difference, really; I still feel moody and muddle-headed and bleah.

I can do this, though.

and look what I came across today! ordered it this morning:

Sweetness and Power: The Place of Sugar in Modern History

I am still hunting down a copy of Bittersweet : The Story of Sugar .
but I see that it is available on Google books. hmmmm….

I can live easily without salt, I don’t add salt to my food at all even when I’m cooking.
But a cup of tea without sugar? or diet coke? hell no…
I tried to trick my self and use “sweeters”<—I don’t know what they are called in english
But I hate them so much, they don’t taste good at all…

sugar, ew 5 months ago

I’ve chosen foods that are self-contained in their natural state. I don’t need to add sugar or sweeteners to anything I eat because the food is complete as is.

considering this one done 5 months ago

of course, giving up sodas etc was huge for me. that took the longest and was the biggest step. I usually don’t eat sweet things anyway good thing too- if I ate deserts etc along with all those sodas, I’d have no teeth left at all, unless on holidays or special occasions, and so when I do have cravings it’s more about the sentimental value of the food or the comforting memories associated with the food (grandmother’s homemade cobbler, etc) than it really is about the sugar. I do still eat fruit, but not refined sugars.
