I know you’re supposed to be humble, but with accolades like this, it’s hard to not show how awesome my pie was!
Even though I had to take it out of the oven 30 minutes early, because it started a FIRE in my oven, I really enjoyed making it.
Had never entered a bake-off contest before, so I put a little extra into this entry. It has a double crust top and little pumpkins, leaves and a braid all made out of extra crust.
Stayed through the judging, and met the local small city Mayor and the other judges which was soooo fun.
Can’t wait to do it again!

to make 2 cherry pies. Not for a bake sale, but because I’m not a huge baker, I thought I would try my hand prior to any bake-sale needs that might pop up.
I want to make the pies for my neighbors. One neighbor is sooo sweet and ensure’s my trash is out on time, that my lawn is mowed and that my dog gets back in the gate when he sneaks out. The other neighbor’s mother is in the hospital and they are so nice.
So I went to the store, bought the crusts (I’m not a make-your-own-crust kinda girl) and cherries. Now I’m going through all the recipes I can find, so I can make a super delicious pie. All I’m seeing is recipes with those ingredients.
I’m thinking – is that it? Sounds kinda bland, boring, unnecessary. Why don’t I just go to McD’s and get some cherry pies there?
Does anyone have any modifications to a cherry pie that will make it a bit more, ohh, I don’t know… more stylish? I know I’m supposed to have a binder (cream of something which I bought) and an egg wash on top to get the crust golden… but I need a bit more than this.
Thank you :o)

is cleaning house and getting ready for the movers to come!
It’s one of the many things military wives do a lot of! Units are always having a bake sale for one thing or another, and it’s just too easy to bake something to donate. And it makes you feel good that you’ve helped.

I loved giving my time and ingredients, but the last time I did this, my goods were sold for less than I spent to make them. Now I donate the price of the ingredients and what I think they would bring as cookies, cake or muffins. No more depression or guilt feelings or hours spent making goodies for someone who doesn’t care.
