How to be more spontaneous

XxShenanigansXx is livin life, not one day at a time, but one second

It’s fairly easy for me to be spontaneous. I grew up around the most random family you will ever find. Times like when my father would look at us and say “kids get in the car” we’d ask where we’re going and all he’d say is “Crazy, wanna come?”
I like being spontaneous because It’s never boring, but be careful not to practice spontaneity to much, it can sometimes lead you places you’d much rather not be.

I’m doing this for the experiences – My experience of the world is school, internet and books. I’ve never really done anything exciting or just on the spur of the moment.

Gitsy is moving!

Definately worth it. 2 months ago

I have to say, I’ve been pretty damn spontaneous the past few years. I’m smart enough to realize what’s a shady situation and what’s not. I’ve met a lot of amazing people from online, I’ve gone on random roadtrips, I’ve taken chances. I’ve done things I’ve said I would never do. Everything has made me that much more of an interesting person in my opinion, and gives me a thought process that I think is rather fun. In fact, I’m moving right now off a whim- I randomly had a WoW friend from another state pick me up, and we hung out in TN for a week. Now I’m moving up there, and who knows what’s in TN for me. More spontaneousness I’m sure =]

Playing it by ear in Vietnam 3 months ago

I just got back from my honeymoon in Vietnam, a trip that the spontaneous hubby planned, or more accurately did not plan, because as he says- “you cannot plan these types of vacations- you need to just go with the flow.” That is what we did (for the most part) and I survived so I am marking this goal as done!

Our trip was adventurous to say the least but it was also awe-inspiring, nerve-racking, emotional and humbling. I am not the back-packer type yet there I was wearing the same outfit two days in a row, sludging through mud sporting a poncho and backpack. There I was again showing up at hotel in the wake of the worst tropical storm the area had seen in 20 years, with no reservation and fairly little cash left, only to be told that the it was empty as the final guests had made their way out via private car hires. The calmness with which I handled rushing to the train station to board the just-restored train, even when there was no guarantee that when we would get back to civilization, was surprising.

Yet- despite going to a far away country during the rainy season (hello Kurrami), where I didn’t speak the language or have a clue where I would be laying my head down the next night, I partied with locals under extra-ordinary circumstances, discovered a country of beautiful landscapes and smiling faces, ate extremely well and I walked away with incredible memories and the realization that things fall into place easily when you let them.

It seems i am always planning every step in my life. I am bound to the constructs of fear of failure but I understnad that failing brings you one step closer to sucess. But i still have that little voice in the back of my mind that warns me not to do certain things. I will defeat that negative little piece of my psyche , I will rein victorious over this world.

Glasgow 5 months ago

A friend and I were drinking, naturally, last Sunday and simply decided – let’s go to Glasgow tomorrow. So we did.

We arrived in Glasgow at roughly 4pm on Monday and left almost exactly twenty four hours later.

Spontaneity 5 months ago

Last Saturday, me and the hubby drove around and visited several different places that we like (Soulard Farmer’s Market, Cherokee Antique Row, Bellerive Park, Downtown River Front) all was spontaneous. This time it worked out well. However we have had several times when we went to a restaurant (one that doesn’t take reservations) only to find a 2 hour wait, then on to another only to find the same etc. There must be a method to this.

I got pierced! 7 months ago

I decided, on a whim, to go get a piercing last Saturday. I’m also planning to take an impromptu holiday once my new contract job is done roughly eight weeks from now; I’m going to take a taxi to the airport and just fly somewhere.
