This is something I have wanted to do for years. I started but didn’t keep it up. I just need to find a class In my area.

a man and woman walked in signing. The guy was wearing the shirt for my university, which was scheduled to play football today. I asked who we played against and he pointed to his ear. So I signed my question. He answered and told me what time the game was. That was a definite reminder to put some effort into this goal.
I may not be absolutely fluent but I took 3 years of ASL and I adored it. I currently live where little to no deaf community exists, which makes me sad, but I still try to use it as much as I can.

I love Marlee Matlin. A lot. She’s beautiful inside and out. I got to see her at Epcot for the Candlelight Processional this past Christmas, signing the whole thing. It was so amazing to see and it made me think of when I was little. My uncle was dating a deaf woman, and no one in my family, including my uncle, knew how to sign. I’ve always been fascinated by it and so I’m looking forward to being fluent over the next year.

I looks like, I’ve crapped out on this goal, but…it’s just been on the backburner. I’ve found a new video series on YouTube that I like and will get quite a bit of new information from. My favorite new sign is Yesterday ( make the “y” letter and draw your thumb from your chin to your right ear).
I’m deciding to stop with my classes. I really do want to learn. I kind of like the classes. I’m not using the language in my every day life. I figure that I can keep investing time and energy into signing and even complete all 5 levels offered at the schoo. But then what? I’ll lose it as I don’t use it and all of that time would have been wasted. Instead, I’ll use that time doing other things that I’m interested in. Helping with the domestic violence support group seems like a good place to start.
