I want to do this because the world could always use a little extra color, and it’s good for the world to have plants! Maybe I will talk to the city and try to get a community garden….
How I did it: Persistence! One plant survived for every four or five planted. Have to stay ahead of the ground squirrels! Kept the weeds down, and found by trial and error the best parts of my half acre for sustaining growth. Oh, and I gave up planting in the backyard except in raised planters, due to my lovely dog.
Lessons & tips: Just enjoy the time outside.

My ornamental grass is as dead as my marriage and I dont have the house anymore. I have an aloe vera plant that just loves being ignored. Its perfect.
My parents always had an amazing garden when I was growing up. It is Winter right now but by Spring I would like to have an actual working garden with veggies and flowers.
I finally have a yard of my own, so I’m really excited about gardening. I want to put in a vegetable garden, a couple fruits, and a native flower garden.
It’s a small yard in a Wisconsin climate, so there’s only so much I can do as far as fruit, but I started preparing this weekend by removing an old hedge. It took me two afternoons of cutting, sawing, pulling, and digging, but now it is clear and I’ll be planting a raspberry bramble in it’s place in spring. :)
cluelocker One more day and I've got some time off!
I absolutely have the intent to put in and maintain such a garden as I have never had before this coming spring… I’m down to less than a case of tomatos and they are 2007 vintage (still good, had a can in some stew last week). I want nothing but Big Mamas, Romas and Juliet Hybrids for tomatos this year. Those are all my favorite varieties. I’m thinking 12 plants of each…. Also want to do better with a few cucumbers and try my hand at corn again… never got that to work out good…. I’d love to claim an onion crop, but I have never been successful with that…
I used to have a great garden, lots of herbs and vegetables, plus a few flowers thrown in for the soul. What happened? Life! My husband died and I now am away from home at a minimum of 12 hours a day. I hope I can get it figured out, because I miss playing in the dirt. More than that, I miss fresh, homegrown tomatoes.

I really like plants, flowers and growing it up seems to be really relaxing thing. I have a few plants and take care of it but would like to plant a garden. Just a little garden so I could dedicate enough of time to it.
Shaleenee broadband is finally fixed :)
checked out the garden, its gone crazy, its growing really well now. the climbers in the pergola- wow it has beautiful red flowers and the one in the balcony blue, it looks lovely. the lawn is doing great too, all green :) I had to put some medicine on it tho. roses were doin baldy without attention, i brought them to my new house.
no tenants yet :( I wish we get some tenant to the house soon.
My only motivation to rent a house rather than an apartment would be so that I could have some garden space. Well also so that I wouldn’t have to worry about bothering my neighbors! But I will move out soon because I need the comfort of being able to grow things.
