Inspirations
I’ve been very inspired lately…which has been wonderful. I’ve allowed myself to let go and just create. One tip…once you sit back and look at the piece…try not to analyze what you were thinking when this idea popped in your head. Just know that everything happens for a reason. For me, when I let go, things are put in front of me that I couldn’t see for myself.
So go…be inspired! You’ll amazed by what ideas you come up with. It may be the word love made out of metal or it could be some random abstract that makes no sense.
My second project is the word “Love”. I believe it’s the greatest gift one can give to another as well as one allows another to give to them.
More pics to come, I have a couple projects in the works.

It all started when I went to an amazing paper store over in Dallas (Paper Source). I went there to actually get a poop log (not for me, but for a friend)...it cracked me up!!! Anyway, I walked in and saw a sheet of paper. That hand-made piece of paper inspired me to do something different. I decided to do a metal art piece using this fantastic paper. I’ve cut myself more on this project than any other one I’ve done. Nothing major…thank god!!! I even wore gloves! It’s looking good, so I’m okay with a dozen cuts!! No pain, no gain! Once I get this bad boy completed, I’ll post pictures.

A garden box
I just finished up a garden box that’s generally based on an idea I read about in the New York Times a few months ago – a shallow, wooden box with mesh underneath it in which greens and herbs can be planted. I bought the supplies at Home Depot and Z helped me learn some basic wood fabrication techniques. I used Really Cheap Wood so it’s not the straightest thing in the world, and I had some measurement flubs of sorts, but I stained it to make it look a little less “rustic” and pretty soon I’ll be planting some seeds in it!
Not sure what my next project will be – maybe some bathroom cabinets? Also not sure when to mark this as done… I’d like to be a little more proficient at fabrication than I currently am.

I built a vanity out of plywood, pre-bought legs from Lowes, moldings, and leftover granite from my kitchen remodel. It fits perfectly in the corner and is even attached to the wall. Hooray!

I’ve been throwing ideas around, trying to decide on the design of my coffee table. Well, I woke up Saturday with an idea. I bought the wood and drove out to my sister-in-law’s parents house. Her father is a wood-worker and has a lot of tools that make the job easier! He showed me how to do some things and we cut everything. I just need to sand it, so I can join the wood together. Then I will glue it, stain it, and put some polycrilic on it and I’m done!! My goal is to have it completed by next weekend.

Project one – complete!!! My mom did all the sewing on this project (She’s the best). We’ll see what the next project will bring. I keep changing my mind – as to what I want to build.

I recently got a circular saw, power driver, and router. All I need now is a Mitre saw. And endless amounts of time. Oh joy!
